Koh Lanta is a stunning island, but so are the islands that are surrounding it. Koh Phi Phi is one of the more famous ones and mainly known for its beautiful beaches and lively party scene. It being only a one hour ferry ride from Koh Lanta, makes it a perfect destination for a two day trip (or one if you are just interested in daytime activities).
On the day of last month’s full moon, a group of eight KoHubbers hopped on the boat to Phi Phi to explore the island and see what all the party fuzz is about. The ferry ride is a fun journey in itself and well worth the experience, as it passes Koh Phi Phi Leh, home of Maya Bay, or better known as the location used for filming The Beach.
Koh Phi Phi is perfect for snorkeling and diving, but we opted for a more laid back trip this time around. This mainly revolved around chilling at the beach, as well as eating and drinking our way through town. After some well deserved food and sangria (for some reason they serve the best sangria on this island!), we went on to explore the nightlife. The best way to enjoy this is by going to Loh Dalum Bay, treat yourself to a bucket of joy, watch the fire show on the beach and a Thai boxing show or two.
After some good night’s sleep and a big brekkie, we climbed up to the Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint. The viewpoint is a 20 minute long steep but very rewarding climb, as the views are unbeatable and make for perfect picture opportunities. A walk over the hills and through the jungle got us back to the peaceful eastern beaches.
All in all, a pretty amazing two day trip, which we will be continuing to organize in the future!
